Project Jyoti

About This Project

On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2018, Yang-Ward Foundation launched a new and different project in Bardaghat, Nawalparasi, Nepal with the goal of helping a single mother of 3, Jyoti BK, to gain financial independence. With the help of our volunteer, Sulav Khanal, we identified Jyoti as our new project beneficiary. In order to help Jyoti BK, Yang-Ward Foundation launched a “Tailoring Project” as Jyoti wanted to use her skills in this sector to generate income with the hope of turning her life around.

Jyoti BK works for other people earning a minimum wage struggling to meet her daily needs. “It is not easy to be single mother when you have to work 7 days a week and 10 hours a day just to meet the day-to-day needs of my family” Jyoti shares her life story with our volunteer in one breath. Committed more than ever, Jyoti wants to turn her life around with the help of this tailoring project.

With the help and co-ordination of former constituent Assembly member, Bikram Khanal, our volunteer Sulav Khanal handed over a sewing machine and other materials to our project beneficiary, Jyoti BK, to begin her journey as a tailor. Thank you, Sulav Khanal and Bikram Khanal for all your help in making this project a reality. We wish Jyoti all the best with her new business!  Thanks to Dr. Edward Brent for funding this project.
